The dam area covers 2,226.44 Ha which can accommodate up to 314,7 million cubic meters of raw water. It also can irrigate 22,000 hectares of rice fields providing 13.9 cubic meters per second of raw water for irrigation, public water necessities and industrial needs. Karian Dam is a crucial infrastructure for the area. “The Karian Dam is one of Indonesia’s biggest dams,” said Joko Widodo, the Indonesian President at the inauguration ceremony in Banten. This project, which required a public investment of IDR 2.27 trillion (US$ 146 million), is not just about size, it is a key to a sustainable future for the region.
